Begin in Galatina with time around the historic centre, where Baroque façades, aristocratic palaces and narrow streets lead towards the town's churches. The route also leaves time for the local pastry tradition, including the famous pasticciotto.
Walk through Galatina to the Basilica of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, whose interior contains extensive medieval and Renaissance fresco cycles.
Leave Galatina and cross the countryside towards Nardò, passing vineyards and small agricultural settlements on the way to the Ionian coast.
When the winery option is available, spend time tasting Salento wines with regional accompaniments. If the tasting is unavailable or not selected, the itinerary can instead allow more time for Nardò or another coastal stop.
Continue towards the Ionian Sea through Santa Maria al Bagno and the coastal road, with a beach stop near Rivabella and time for swimming when conditions allow.
Finish in Gallipoli with time to wander the historic centre, following narrow streets towards the waterfront and taking in the island's harbour and sea views.
